Sodexo participated at the first leaders meeting of the Pact4Youth with CSR Europe to forge a pro-youth, pro-innovation Europe

25 mai 2016

Yesterday Sodexo’s Benelux President Michel Croisé took part in the first Leaders meeting of the European Pact for Youth in Brussels.

The meeting was hosted by Marianne Thyssen, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility and Viscount Etienne Davignon, Minister of State and President of CSR Europe. The meeting was a chance to share and reflect on the progress made towards the target of 10,000 new business-education partnerships, and 100,000 new good quality apprenticeships, traineeships or entry-level jobs.

The leaders of the European Pact for Youth were, and still are clear in their message that they believe in a Europe of solutions, a Europe that offers its young people the direction, motivation, skills and opportunities to succeed and excel in work and in society.

The group of leaders, from an array of backgrounds, sectors and regions, discussed options to enhance the attractiveness and quality in Vocational Education and Training (VET) and apprenticeship schemes, as well as to improve the mobility of young apprentices and their teachers and trainers.

The Leaders' ambition is to make VET and apprenticeships an attractive, qualitative and equal choice for young people across Europe, and to increase youth employability and social inclusion, while investing in the continuing professional development of teachers and trainers.

Sodexo wants to take its responsibility to help young people finding a job in collaboration with other partners to reduce youth unemployment. Sodexo offers them a first experience through for example a traineeship or an apprenticeships. The target for 2015 and 2016 was to engage 420 young people, but in 2015 already 396 people were reached with 337 contracts and 59 traineeships. The new target is set at 600.

Under the framework of the Pact for Youth, three concrete policy proposals, will be presented at the first European Enterprise-Education Summit that will take place on 23rd November 2017.
